When an induction furnace operates at high current, the flexible power connection between the power supply and the furnace coil becomes a critical engineering component. A properly selected water-cooled cable must match the electrical, cooling, mechanical and installation requirements of the furnace—not simply the current rating printed on a catalog.
The first information to collect is the furnace power, operating frequency, working current, cable length, terminal configuration and available cooling-water conditions. Frequency matters because induction systems can experience additional electrical losses in flexible leads; specialist guidance also notes that induction cable sizing should consider both conductor cross-section and operating frequency.
A practical purchasing specification should therefore include: conductor cross-section, cable length, terminal type, water inlet/outlet arrangement, minimum bending requirement, operating environment and quantity. If the cable is installed on a tilting furnace, flexibility and mechanical movement should be considered together with electrical capacity.

Construction is equally important. A typical furnace water-cooled cable combines flexible copper stranded conductors, a water-cooling path and a protective non-conductive outer hose. Depending on the application, terminals may use different geometries, including straight, flange, parallel or other customized connections.
Before ordering, send the supplier a drawing or clear photographs of both ends of the existing cable. Include the terminal dimensions, center-to-center length, conductor cross-section and water connection size. This allows the manufacturer to check compatibility instead of guessing from the furnace brand alone.
For buyers, the best quotation request is not simply “price for one cable.” Ask for a complete technical confirmation: cable model, conductor area, length, terminal drawing, water connection, test requirements and packing.
At Zheng Zhou Li Zhao Electric Furnace Co., Ltd., we can review your existing cable drawing or photographs and prepare a customized quotation based on your actual installation.
